In Jay Katz's review of the book The Silent World of the Doctor and Patient, he presents a psychoanalytical view of the doctor-patient relationship. He states that when "...patients are in the throes of illness..." they experience "infantile regression"--they become like children. And the doctors become narcissistic when they are "...elevated to the status of caring, all-knowing parents," though they have a "...subsequent fear of being revealed as less than omnipotent."

Answer: According to the Katz's view, when patient is suffering from major illness, they starts behaving like a child as they are so much in stress and trauma due to disease that they are unable to tackle the situations. The nature and behaviour of the patient resembles like child as they start to ask questions multiple times, sometimes irrelevant questions or discussion etc.

At present still these things exists as the relationship between the healthcare professionals as well as the patient is a life long learning process where a healthcare professional learns the various kind of things which cannot be just studied and this is called experience. Because we all are human beings and get attached emotionally with eachother.
