(b) For the first layer of glass, thermal resistance is

0.32 10 m 0.169 K/VM

For the air gap,thermal resistance is

0.50 10m 7.246 K/W A (0.023 W/(m.K)(0.0300 m3)

The second layer of glass has the same thermal resistance as the first:

R_{3}=R_{1}

The total thermal resistance is

ΣΗ, 0.169 + 7.246 0.169 = 7.584 K

And the rate of conductive heat flow is

AT ΣRn 37 K 7.584 K/W 4.9 W
