-Catherine, the PTA described at the beginning of this chapter is working with a patient who asks question regarding how much improvement he should expect to make. Catherine refers him to Sasha. The supervising PT saying “I’m a PTA. I can’t answer question about prognosis” Do you agree with the way Catherine answered the patient question? Why or Why not? If not, what would you do differently?
-The patient’s wife says, “ I know someone who is a PTA. She says that a PTA can do everything a PT can do except evaluations, right? How would you respond?
-As a newly graduated PTA, you will be working with at least one PT. identify at least one trait that you will need to develop between now and then to contribute more positively to the PT/PTA team relationship, Describe what you might do to help develop that trait
The terms PT and PTA refers to Physical Therapists and PTA are Physical Therapy Assistants. Physical Therapist Assistants provide the services of physical therapy under the supervision of Physical Therapist. The only difference between the physical therapist and physical therapy assistants is PTAs cannot identify or make the initial diagnosis and this can be done only by the Physical Therapist along with the plan of care.Phusical Therapy Assistants takes cares of the client completely in performing all the therapeutic techniques.
Scenario : Catherine PTA while taking care of the client, questioned her about the prognosis of the therapy, Catheriene referred the client to Sasha who is PT saying that I am PTA
The way Cathereine answered the patient is agreeable. Because it is PTA responsibility to explain about the techniques used and how it works but not about the prognosis or evaluations. So PTAs will have certain responsibilities of educating the clients about the techniques and their importance, they should act as a decision maker at times of importance , observe the patients etc. If I would be Catherine I would have explained about the uses of therapy to the patient as the positive attitude will strengthen the patient psychologically which helps the patient to improve fastly and also would have explained detailly about my responsibility.
Responding to the Wife of Patient about PTA vs PT :
As a PTA I would have responded to the wife stating that she is right but there is a slight difference not only evaluations but PTA cannot also identify or diagnose the situation or problem.So I would explain the roles and responsibilities of PTA stating I am an assistant who is working under licensed Therapist, and to be a therapist I need to have experience with advanced licensed certifications.

A Physician therapist should have certain traits or characteristics. Those are
I hope I need to develop Patience and interpersonal communication skills. I would observe my PT to see how he/ she is managing communicating and interacting with the patients. Observe the attitude of my PT and try to imitate and cultivate the good traits.Also I would take suggestion or steps that to be followed from my PT.
