Executive Summary

The Hurricane came to New Orleans which has affected the operations of the company fast food chain. Being the vice president of the of operations for a New Orleans fast-food chain, I had drafted the emergencies procedures which one need to follow during the business time and save his and his colleagues life. Actually, in general when the storm comes persons used to get scared and forget everything. It is more necessary here to planned for the emergency procedure which benefits.

Here I had drafted the emergency protocols which is quite safe and easy to follow during the disaster time. This would help each personal to continue the business operations with special care. It would help both business and the person life.

Introduction

Disaster is an unpredictable fact. Although the metrological department works for the prediction but is sometimes changed without giving a sudden time duration. The planning for the disaster involves the proper coordination among the resources available to the business operations. A plan should be changed time to time so as to make balance the everyday situations.

Emergency planning is done here which means the effective planning which should be systematic for the future contingencies. This plan includes the step of procedures to be followed by the individual.

This planning is done to avoid the irregularities in the operations of the business and also to safeguard the life of the individuals working with the business operations. The emergency situation cannot be fully avoided but its effects can be reduced.

Effective Measures taken

In order to avoid the workplace emergency situations, the company have to follow the following action plan is as below:

  1. A Response team has been made which guides each employee.
  2. Method of communicating the emergency situation before happening.
  3. A proper Coordination channel among the employees of the fast food chain business.
  4. Information of all the employees and employer should be with the management team.
  5. The medical needs would be available always with the management team.

The emergency can be reduced by a proper procedure to follow during the time of the emergency. The company has planned that a seminar to be presented by the set of people about the emergencies situation happen during the operation hours. It would impact the minds of the employees. This seminar would explain the about what are the previous emergency happened and how can be recovered from those. After intimating this to the employees we create a team which would look after the necessary resources management. This team would have sub teams which would guide the other members of the business so that every individual has been saved with their save operations. A team would fulfil the medical needs, food requirements, sheltered place, way to reach, save the work on time, how to save their own life etc.

This would need the proper communication. Hence, a communication would be done via an electronically and physically by the line of members in the response team.

Response team:

A team is used to take the appropriate actions and guide each employee individually and it also helps the general public or customers of the business.

Communication procedure:

A communication procedure is used to inform everyone present in the operations of the business. A procedure to follow is direct communication by the physical person in contact and by the broadcasting an information. Both the electronic and the physical way is used in the communication.

Medial Needs availability:

The medical needs availability is always present nearby the employees which are involved in the operations. Basic needs of the medicals should be followed by the person itself as well as by the response team.

Code of conducts and time to close down the operation in the extreme situation would be done with the effective care. This would reduce the losses to the business operations. For example, do not collects the more items so that it has to be restored for some days. It would actually make the operational losses of the business which can be avoided.

The warning process is as follows:

We need to do the parallel planning as to reduce the risk. The planning is in this way as given in the figure:

Company has two types of strategies in parallel planning- one for the permanent planning whereas one for the business continuity planning. Previous do the strategic tactical and operational planning in advance and then executes whereas later grows the process with the need of the recovery types from the previous experiences.

Summary

Disaster can be mitigated with the well-defined procedures but can not be fully recovered. The set of procedures can help the business as well as every person involved in the business process. This would be implemented very carefully as the conflicts may arises.
