Answer #1

When documenting a normal pulse which of the following is correct?

d) radical pulse, 72, regular, 2+ bilaterally

Rationale: Radial pulse is one of the arterial pulse sites which is equal to heart rate. The normal radical pulse rate may range from 60 to 100 depends upon age and other factors. But ideal normal adult pulse rate is 72beats per minute. When checking of pulse rate, both wrist should be checked simultaneously to know the pulse force. Pulse force of 2+ indicates normal strong pulse. 3+ indicates bounding pulse, 1+ indicates weak, diminished pulse. Variation in pulse force indicates that there is an obstruction of arteries.
