1) Polyesters formed by glycerol will be theoretically more stable due to higher boiling point of glycerol. The boiling point of glycerol is 290 °C, while that of ethylene glycol is 198 °C. The increase in boiling point of glycerol is due to increase strength of hydrogen bonding. Glycerol forms a crossed linked polymer due to presence of three hydroxyl groups. The high boiling point and higher cross linking ability of glycerol causes an increase in rigidity of the polyester.
