This article “Anesthetic Management of Patients with Suspected or Confirmed 2019 Novel Coronavirus Infection during Emergency Procedures” was a retrospective multicenter clinical study conducted in 4 hospitals in china in the year 2020 after the COVID 19 outbreak. The research was conducted by Shuai Zhao, Ken Ling, Hong Yan, Liang Zhong, Xiaohong Peng, Shanglong Yao, Jiapeng Huang in China. The purpose of the study was to control cross infection during emergency interventions in the operating rooms for patients with suspected and confirmed case of COVID-19. The study was effective to effective to identify that implementing new measures and procedures such as negative pressure rooms, protective measures for the OR staffs, disinfection and sterilization of the operating rooms and self-sterilization of the OR staff showed substantial reduction of cross infection in the operating rooms (Zhao, S., et al, 2020).

The study is reliable as it is evident that promotion of these procedures and intervention was effective in reduction of cross infection in the operating rooms. One of the critiques concerning this article is that it is hard to consider the proposed problems encountered in the clinical settings. Whereas it is important to highlight the low infection rates in the four hospitals in the operating rooms due to the stringent infection control guidelines and policies.
