  Let the string make an angle of theta with vertical in equilibrium.then sin theta = (0.0300/2)/0.950 = 0.0157 and

cos theta = (4/7)sqrt(3). Also we have T cos theta = m g and T sin theta = 9x10^9(Q^2/0.0300^2). Dividing second equation by first, we have


tan theta = {[(9x10^9)/0.0300^2]Q^2}/(7.40x10^-8x9.8) or
(7.40x9.8x10^-8)(1/4sqrt(3)) = [1*10x10^11]Q^2 or
(1.046x10^-7)/(1x10^11) = Q^2 or
1.046x10^-18 = Q^2 or Q = 1.0227x10^-9= 1.0227 nC
