Answer: In the first stage of labour there are following characteristics:

• Opening of cervix
• Cervix gets dilated.
• Cervix becomes thin and soften.

The four stages of labor are: - ( First stage of labor 1) Early labor - At this stage the cervix opens to 4 cerltimeters. Contraction may change due to activity This stage of labor, contractions helps cervix too thin and begin to open. This is called effacement and dilation. The first stage of labor usually lasts about 12 to 13 hours for a baby. (B) Second Stage of labor. The second stage of labor begins when the cervix is completely dilated and ends with the birth of baby. Contraction push the baby down the birth canal and there is intense pressure The intensity at the end of the first stage of labor will continue in the pushing phase. (CThird Stage of labor (Afterbirth) After the birth of , baby, uterus continues to contract to push out the placenta. The placenta usually delivers about sto 15 minutes after the baby arrives.
