The unitary model of household considers a family as combination of individual units. However, a collective bargaining model considers the family as a whole who take decision based on the collective wisdom of the family. The collective bargaining model is more apt to tackle issues of domestic violence.
Collective bargaining framework takes into consideration all the stakeholders involved. This means that apart from the family members, other parties like colleagues, neighbors, friends, relatives are also involved. For example, the male members of the family who work outside, the workplace can come up with an agreement where it is made clear that domestic violence case against any employee will not be tolerated. The employees must be sensitized over this issue.
Collective bargaining framework also encourages women to form informal groups where their rights and duties are discussed and domestic issued handled. Most importantly , the women are made aware about laws that protect them
