Researching public health on reducing the health disease of diabetes. What is the historical need for health programs and the theoretical background on which the program is designed ?

Part of this research includes some data on current incidence, prevalence and mortality rates of diabetes and what is expected in the next five years?

Lastly, is there interventions or treatment options that change the status of this epidemic (diabetes)? I know medicines have changed and advances in detecting blood sugars with CGM.
