Did one teacher do better or worse than another teacher?

State your hypothesis and your null hypothesis:

Decide which t-test you will use (Dependent, Independent – equal variance, Independent – unequal variance):

Test your null hypothesis at the .05 level (decide if this is one-tailed or two-tailed). Which tailed test did you use and what is your observed t value?

What is the critical value for this test?

Do you accept or reject your null hypothesis?

Answer #1

Claim: Two teachers teach the same or different.

The null and alternative hypothesis is:

H0 : μι = μ2

G + : H

The t-test we have to use Independent – equal variance.

By using excel we have to test the hypothesis.

Enter data into excel.

Click on Data ---------> Data Analysis ----------> t-Test: Two-Sample Assuming Equal Variances --------->

Variable 1 Range: Select teacher 1 data

Variable 2 Range: Select teacher 2 data

Hypothesized Mean Difference: 0

Output Range: Select any empty cell.

Ok

We get

- x New Microsoft Office Excel Worksheet - Microsoft Excel View Team Wrap Text General - E D EF Merge & Center - $ % , 8:09 C

Test statistic = t = - 3.53

Critical value = 2.131

Test statistic | t | > Critical value we reject null hypothesis.

Conclusion:

Two teachers teach differently.

    2. Many high schools have education programs that encourage teachers to embrace racial tolerance, recognize ethnic diversity, and overcome racial stereotypes. To gauge the effectiveness of one such program that utilizes two videos of teachers engaging in racial stereotypes of their students, researchers from New York University and City University of New York recruited 238 high school professionals (including teachers and counselors) to participate in a study (Journal of Moral Education, March 2010).
