My business idea is with regards to a play school and an activity center for children in the age group of 2 years to 6 years. The idea of starting a play school appealed to me because of the fact that this business is a high margin business and is insulated from the vagaries of the economic conditions. The need for education remains stable and is not affected even when the pace of economic growth slows down. Hence the business model associated with a play school is inherently risk free.

The basic idea is to differentiate my school by providing a unique curriculum and learning experience for children. It is a known fact that no two children are alike and some learn better by doing, some be seeing, and some by listening. It is with this aspect in mind that my school will have a unique curriculum and this will be called the ‘eclectic approach curriculum’. This will focus on the holistic development of a child and will be based on pro-active synthesis of various schools of thought on early childhood viz; Project Method, Multiple Intelligence, Play Way, and Montessori Method.

The first steps to realize this idea is to set up a center, put in place the necessary infrastructure and hire the right set of people. The long term goal is to have my curriculum copyrighted and start selling franchises on the basis of this curriculum so that economies of scale can be achieved and taken advantage of.
