The education of physicians in the United States is lengthy and involves undergraduate education, medical school, and graduate medical education. The learning does not end when physicians complete their residency or fellowship training either. Doctors participate in continuing education and some states require a certain number of continuing education credits per year to ensure the doctor's knowledge and skills remain current. Continuing medical education requirements vary by state, by professional organizations, and by hospital medical staff organizations.

We all want to seek health care from qualified, knowledgeable health care providers. In your opinion, whose responsibility is it to ensure the competency of health care providers? What information regarding the provider should be made available to the individual consumer to help them choose a health care provider? Explain your reasoning.

Answer : IOM committee called for to reform health professionals education are _the ability to deliver patient centered care.

The institute of medicine recommends the some of the vision that is all health care professional should be educated to deliver patient centered care as members of interdisciplinary team ,emphasizing evidence based practice ,quality improvement approaches and informatics

Consumers see the education qualification , experience of doctor and cost for care

Reason :

The education qualification is very much needed for health care professionals to provide effective care and escape from legal issues .

Experience also very much important .because if We have experience on particual health problem We can treat easily and adverse events may  also less and recovery will be good for patient
