A designed experiment is controlled study in which one or more treatments are applied to experimental units. The experimenter then observes the effect of varying these treatments on a response variable. Experimental unit is the person or object upon which the treatment is applied. Treatment is the condition applied to the experimental unit. Response variable is the variable of interest. Factors are the variables which affect the response variable. In this study the 6 containers of salsa are given to the six panels, and each panel gives a consensus score for the assigned recipe.
