Socialized medicine is any system that is partially or totally funded by government although healthcare is provide by private business. In many countries across the world including canada , great britain, Finland and Spain social medicine is the main form of healthcare access .

Confidentiality, rights, safety and security of a patient comes under one name that is medical privacy or health care privacy.

In this modern era of socialised medicine it is more important to keep medical privacy. It is the practice of maintaining the security and confidentiality of patient records . It involves both the conversational discretion of healthcare provides and security of medical records.

Mordern concerns include the degree of disclosure to insurance companies , employers and other third parties. The advent of electronic medical records and patient care management systems have raised new concerns about privacy balanced with efforts to reduce duplication of services and medical errors. The united states has passed the HIPAA act as an attempt to increase privacy precautions within medical institution.

HIPAA act is Health insurance portability and accountability act of 1996. It is United states legislation that provides data privacy and security provisions for safe guarding medical information. It contains 5 sections or titles.

Title 1: HIPAA health insurance reform

Title 2: HIPAA administrative simplification

Title 3:HIPAA treatment related health provision

Title 4: Application and enforcement of group health plan

Title 5: Revenue offset

HIPAA has two main purposes:

1. To provide continuous health coverage for workers and to reduce the administrative burden.

2. It includes combating abuse, fraud and waste in health insurance and healthcare delivery and improving accesss to long term care service and health care

Conclusion:

There are many benefits to socialised medicine . It makes healthcare more accessible, can lead to better public health and prevents people from going bankrub  due to medical expenses. LIke all healthcare systems , there are positive and negative aspects and one must decide decide whether or not the pros outweigh the cons.
