Energy Expenditure : This is actually calculated in Calories or kilo Calories. Energy expenditure is the amount of energy that a person needs to carry his or her daily activities, that is the number of kilo Calories that are actually burnt.

Three major components of energy expenditure are

Basal Metabolic Rate: BMR is also known as body's metabolism.This is the minimum number of kilo Calories required by a body to function during rest periods.

Resting Metabolic Rate : This is total energy required by the body or burnt by the body to function normally when it's completely on rest.

Thermic Effect of Feeding : This is actually the study of or the evaluation of metabolic rate after ingestion of food.
