Answer #1

1. Crude mortality rate - Total number of deaths due to all causes in a year / Number of persons in the population at mid year × 1000

Total number of deaths in 2012 = 4740+1262= 5962

Total population = 1118602

Crude mortality rate = 5962/118602× 100000

= 532.9 %

2. Cause specific mortality rate for malignant neoplasm = number of deaths due to cancer / total population × 100000

= 1262 / 1118602 × 100000

= 112.8%

3. Proportionate mortality rate for malignant neoplasm = number of deaths due to malignancy / total number of deaths × 100

= 1262/5962× 100

= 21.1 %

4. Case fatality rate for malignant neoplasm

= Number of deaths due to malignancy / total number of cases of malignant neoplasm × 100

= 1262 / 6250× 100

=20.1%
