Answer #1

Healthcare is becoming an increasingly difficult and changing environment for professionals to navigate. The healthcare leader of today and the future will need to know how to get things done while adapting to a new dynamic hospital business model. For healthcare organizations to remain effective and successful during these tumultuous times, a new kind of healthcare leader is needed–one who has the right specific skills, personality traits and leadership qualities. Along with securing the right leadership, healthcare organizations need to work to understand their own challenges and be more deliberate in how they go about identifying, selecting and developing leadership.

*a leader's level of cultural competence, health literacy, and healthcare ethics impact a specific type of healthcare organization as follows:

1.)cultural competence:

great leader possesses the skills, knowledge, and attitude necessary to create authentic relationships with those from different cultures. A leader also demonstrates cultural competency when he or she recruits diverse membership within groups or teams.

Cultural competence is the ability to interact effectively in cross-culture situations. It means understanding different cultures and their values, even if they do not align with our own. Becoming culturally competent takes time, patience, and above all, the willingness to embrace the cultures different from our own, both on a personal level and as leaders in any organization.

A culturally competent leader possesses the skills, knowledge, and attitude necessary to create authentic relationships with those from different cultures. These aspects of cultural competence, which are crucial in today’s global society, require us to be open to exploring new cultures, build relationship with people outside our own culture groups, and facilitate cross-cultural understanding within groups. These resources can help leaders become aware and let go of our unconscious biases, and be open to understanding different cultures.

2.) Health literacy:-

Health literacy is the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions.1

Health literacy is dependent on individual and systemic factors:

a)Communication skills of lay persons and professionals

b)Lay and professional knowledge of health topics

c)Culture

d)Demands of the healthcare and public health systems

e)Demands of the situation/context

f)Health literacy affects people's ability to:

g)Navigate the healthcare system, including filling out complex forms and locating providers and services

h)Share personal information, such as health history, with providers

i)Engage in self-care and chronic-disease management

j)Understand mathematical concepts such as probability and risk

Health literacy includes numeracy skills. For example, calculating cholesterol and blood sugar levels, measuring medications, and understanding nutrition labels all require math skills. Choosing between health plans or comparing prescription drug coverage requires calculating premiums, copays, and deductibles.

In addition to basic literacy skills, health literacy requires knowledge of health topics. People with limited health literacy often lack knowledge or have misinformation about the body as well as the nature and causes of disease. Without this knowledge, they may not understand the relationship between lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise and various health outcomes.

Health information can overwhelm even persons with advanced literacy skills. Medical science progresses rapidly. What people may have learned about health or biology during their school years often becomes outdated or forgotten, or it is incomplete. Moreover, health information provided in a stressful or unfamiliar situation is unlikely to be retained.

3)Healthcare ethics:-

In the nursing profession, leadership plays a significant role in creating motivation and thus enabling nurses to provide high quality care. Ethics is an essential component of leadership qualifications and the ethical leader can help create an ethical atmosphere, offer ethical guidance, and ensure the occupational satisfaction of personnel through prioritizing moralities. However, some issues prevent the implementation of this type of leadership by nursing leaders. The aim of this study was to identify and describe some problems and obstacles in ethical leadership faced by nursing leaders, and to help them achieve more accurate information and broader perspective in this field.ethical leadership leads to reduced work leave and increased job satisfaction in nurses through decreasing moral distress and creating an ethical milieu.
