Adjusted gross income is the difference between the gross income and the deductions from business or rental activities.

Deductions like medical expenses and itemized deductions.

Deductions from AGI includes loss on property sale, alimony payments and educational expenses.

a. Fran spent $94 for uniforms for use on her job. And employer reimbursed $66

Hence $28 ($94 - $66) is deductible from AGI

b. Timothy spent $152 for small tools to be used on his job, but was not reimbursed, hence $152 should be taken as deductible from AGI.
