Irritable bowel syndrome refers to a gastrointestinal disorder which is characterized by abdominal pain,diarrhoea or constipation.

Some of the intervention and rationale to manage it effectively

  • Dietary modification (FODMAP diet ) this can greatly regularise the bowel moments and its symptoms
  • Assess the diet pattern,this can help In planning care by knowing which food causes the symptoms and which not.
  • Avoid gluten in diet,to prevent diarrhoea
  • In case of constipation ,include the right quantity of soluble fibre
  • In case of diarrhoea, medication can be used.A use of probiotic can prevent this
  • Avoid foods from unhygienic place which can cause infection and further aggravate the symptoms
  • Analgesics can be taken to relieve abdominal pain as per order
