Draft:

Hey Sis – Miss you! Hope all is well with you. The semester here has just started. So far, my classes are going very well. It's really hard going back to school after so many years. I was worried about calculus, but the Professor explains everything carefully and understanding it better than I expected. Unfortunately, I recently got some upsetting news from my ophthalmologist. Because my tonometry (the measurement of intraocular pressure – the pressure inside the eye) readings were high and we have a strong family history of glaucoma (a group of eye conditions resulting in optic nerve damage), he wanted me to have further testing. I’ll let you know when I have more information.

Dear Mom

Hope you all are doing well. I will be coming home for the semester break next week. Here we have a really helpful faculty who guide us well in our curricular and extracurricular activities. Now we are preparing for the exams. Yesterday, I had a fall while playing basketball. It was so painful and shocking, and I was screaming in pain. I have never imagined that I would ever have a fall in such a manner in front of the whole college. I had severe pain in my left shoulder. Our clinic physio, who usually attends the players during falls and injuries, came and after a thorough check, took me to a nearby ortho clinic. There they said I have rotator cuff tear and that I need a surgical repair. They took an MRI and confirmed the rotator cuff injury from the fall. They gave me analgesics, antiinflammatories etc., and a shoulder heating pad. They told me to do the surgery, which I opted to have done at the ortho clinic near our home when I come there for this semester break. There is increased pain with movement, comparatively more with hand extension, stretching, and raising the hand above the head.

I’m looking forward to coming back home and seeing you all during Christmas time.
