Matching principal states that any expense which is incurred should be recorded in the same period in which the revenue is generated with the help of that expense.

The purpose of this is to record the revenue timely as per the expenses made to earn them without leading to any misstatements in the earning.

So the correct answer for this is C which is revenue and related expenses to be reported in the same period.
