Answer :

Volume assist control ventilation is a ventilator mode in  which the machine delivers the same tidal volume during every inspiration ,whether initiated by the ventilator or by patient .

This occur regardless of the mechanical load on the respiratory system and no matter how strenous or feeble the inspiratory muscles effort .

In above question , the patient may have respiratory compromise or respiratory failure or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or ARDS etc .

  • When the patient is not able to take breath spontaneously ,We choose the o2 mask ,if it is also not useful then We go For rebreather mask ,eventhough 02 saturation not improved will choose the mechanical ventilation .
  • The causes of choosing mechanical ventilation are many .
  • Volume assist control ,We will choose when the patient tidal volume is not adequate such as below 500. Or lower than 500.

Tidal volume is the set volume that will be delivered by each breath ,if We decrease tidal volume the co2 %will be increased in the blood .

Fio2 is the percentage of 02 in the air mix that is delivered by ventilator .it increases o2 saturation .

PEEP : perp also used to increase the 02 saturation ,if pressure increases and volume also increases .

It will decrease the dead space .and increase the ventilation perfusion.
