The Health Information Technology is an integral part of healthcare system but the use of it has lead to many unintended consequences and has been a hindrance to quality patient care. This unintended consequences are stress and medical error,it has dramatically increased the time spent by nurses for documentation of patient records, the communication between the healthcare professionals has been decreased ,problems faced with computer based on wheels, there is a poor coordination between the electronic health records and the informational technology department ,lack of redesigning etc., If this persists it can lead to poor healthcare quality to patients resulting in unintended consequences.
