Many of rhe health issues can be reduced by the caessation of smoking. The carbon monoxide levels in the blood cells will decrease and become normal within 12 hours of quite smoking. The oxygen supply to the blood cell increases and the circulation improves within 3 months after quitting smoking. Cigarette smoking can lead to impairment in the myocardial cellular levels. It may give rise to oxidative stress, inflammation, metabolic impairment and even cell death. Immune cell infiltration due to the smoking is also a major issue. Quitting smoking in early stage can prevent further complications to occur. Also the production of reactive oxygen species can be reduced so that the inflammation can be prevented. ROS plays an important role in inflammation. As a result of quitting smoking cell death rate is reduced which is again related to the prevention of ROS formation.

Reduced oxidative stress and improved cardiac bioenergetics were reported in those quite smoking by drug based therapy. In addition to the ROS scavenging, attenuating inflammatory and apotopic response post cigarette smoking exposure has been seen and reported.
