Stakeholder is a person, group, organisation or system who affects and can be affected by an organisational actions. In healthcare industry Stakeholder are the bodies or entities who are wholly or partly take part in the activities of a healthcare system and would be substantially affected by reforms to the system.

Major Stakeholders of the U.S. healthcare industry are as follows:-

1) Patients

2) Physicians

3) Employers

4) Insurance companies

5) Government

Patients:-

Patients have an ethical responsibility towards their own health and thus help in reducing the cost of the healthcare system.Most of the patients expect that the employers should provide them with different options for the services being offered at their healthcare centres and as per their specific needs. They also expect that the employers pay most of their cost of insurance but the employers want to reduce their cost of contribution and wish that patients recovers as soon as possible.

Physicians:-

Physicians play an essential role in making sure that all their patients get quality healthcare services. This helps in regulating the rising charges of healthcare delivery. They have to find a balance between the patients and the insurance companies so that the insurance companies pay right charges for the services that thay received.

Employers:-

Employers are responsible for keeping the medical cost low or slow down the rate at which the charges of services are increasing. They are also responsible for making sure that the physician should always be at work. They should also focus on the rising cost of providing health insurance.

Insurance companies:-

Many people are unable to obtain health insurance due to rising premiums and strict requirements. The insurance companies should maintain an appropriate balance between their responsibilities towards both shareholders and patients so that they can get better quality of healthcare services.

Government :-

The U.S. government has a pivotal role in providing quality healthcare services throughout the country by building hospitals and other healthcare centres so that all people have access to the services. This helps in reducing mortality rate in the nation . Government should also regulate and monitor healthcare market and quality of services provided by them . This helps in preventing illegal health care services in the nation.
