Answer #1

ANSWER.

* Pediatric dose calculation.

      * Child weight in pound.

               Weight of the child in kg = 3.09 kg.

                                         1 kg = 2.2 pounds.

                   So

                     Child weight in pounds = 3.09 * 2.2

                                                           = 6.8 pounds

                                                           = 7 pounds.

     * Calculation of child dose .

                Formula

                            Child dose = Weight (lb) * Adult dose / 150.

                       Here

                               Weight (lb) = 7 lb.

                             Adult dose = 275 mg.

                 As per formula

                       Child dose = 7 * 275 / 150

                                          = 1925 /150

                                          = 12.8 mg.

                                          = 13 mg.

     * Amount of Demarol required for the child.

                  Formula = Desired dose / Dose in hand * Quantity.

                      Here

                          Desired dose (D) = 13 mg.

                          Dose in hand (H) = 100 mg.

                               Quantity (Q) = 2 ml.

           As per formula

                 Amount(ml) of Demerol required = D/H *Q

                                                                       = 13 / 100 * 2

                                                                       = 0.13 * 2

                                                                       = 0.26 ml.

                                                                      = 0.3 ml.
