1) Primordial prevention - It is the prevention of developing risk factors in a population. Special attention is given in preventing chronic disease. Main intervention is health education.
Example - life style modification is done to reduce the risk factor for chronic disease - avoid smoking , avoid drinking alcohol , avoid physical exercise.
2) Primary prevention - "action taken before the onset of a disease".
a) Health promotion - it include all elevation of causative factor, environmental modification , nutritious diet, clean and safe environment , improving the standard of living.
b)Specific protection - example - immunization, nutritious supplement, chemoprophylaxis, protection against accident
e.g of primary prevention - 1) avoiding overexposure to sun 2) keratin rich diet to prevent vitamin A deficiency
3) Secondry prevention - Action are taken to stop the progress of a disease "in its early stage and prevent complication "
