Ordered dose of phenobarbital is 2mg/kg PO ,BD
The dose for the dog will be 2× 6.75 = 13.5mg
Available dose of phenobarbital tablet is 15mg
Using unitary method :-
15mg of phenobarbital is present in 1 tablet
1mg of phenobarbital will be present in 1/15mg
Then 13.5mg of phenobarbital will be present in 1/15× 13.5 = 0.9 tablet of available tablet of phenobarbital has to be given twice a day .
1b. For 1month, I would dispense 600 tablets of 15mg
2a. Weight of the cat is 9.8lb = 9.8×0.45kg= 4.41kg
The cat has diabetes mellitus
Ordered dose of glucotrol is 2.5mg PO, BD
Available dose of glucotrol is 5mg
So, the veterinarian should give half tablet of the available tablet twice a day
2b. The cat has diabetes mellitus and is 9.8lbs in weight . The physician has prescribed Tab. Glucotrol 2.5mg twice a day per orally.
