Air pollution seems to be a vital cause of many respiratory disorders. It is very necessary to prevent and control the pollution. The preventive measures and controlling measures are as follows:

Preventive measures

  • Adoption of less enviornmentally harmful pesticides.
  • Industries should use fuel with lower sulphur content
  • Do not cause loud noises and unwanted sounds
  • Do not litter in public places
  • Industries should strictly follow pollution control rules and regulations
  • Never use open fires to dispose of wastes
  • Adopt the 3Rs of solid waste management - reduce, reuse,recycle
  • Stop smoking and follow the non-smoking sign

Control measures

  • Avoid smoking indoors
  • Use craft supplies in well-ventilated areas
  • Make sure your gas stove is well ventilated
  • Have car emissions tested regularly
  • Use carbon monoxide detectors
  • Test your home for radon
  • Make sure exhaust fans are functioning in your kitchen and bathroom
