Identify various emergencies and natural disasters that could impact communities by geographic area (local & national) Scenario: Each student will be assigned a different disaster. You will gather information and evidence on the disaster including images, videos and proper disaster/emergency preparedness techniques to keep both staff, clients, and civilians in your community safe. Each student via zoom will share a presentation that does not exceed 10 minutes in length to best share their information they have learned Tips/guide on what should be included are: use the 5 preparedness techniques: Prevention Protection. Mitigation. Response, and Recovery. preparation for the event if necessary, how to ensure safety prior to the event occurring, evacuation plans, drills if necessary, risk assessments if needed at a site and identifying potential hazards, if possible how to stop the emergency/disaster, do you need isolation or quarantine? warnings and alerts and how to be alerted/or alert others, what medical/nursing protocols should be first executed/followed (example: in a fire situation we would evacuate horizontally and people who are able to ambulate first) who are our partners/ who are we teaming up with to try to reach recovery? . Ans) Emergency and Disaster Management. In the framework of response and recovery, there is a large difference between the terms emergency and disaster. An emergency is an event that can be responded to using the resources available at hand, implying that there is no need to request external assistance.

- For one, the movement of tectonic plates can cause many natural disasters, such as tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Natural disasters are also caused by the weather. Natural disasters can cause other traumatic events to occur as well, such as floods, landslides and mudslides.

- Geography have had a longstanding role to play in understanding the full range of crises brought on through interactions of natural and social systems, and the discipline is generally recognized as one of the founding disciplines of hazard as a field of study.

- Natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, typhoons, and hurricanes inflict serious damage and so seem to be bad for the economy. For firms, natural disasters destroy tangible assets such as buildings and equipment – as well as human capital – and thereby deteriorate their production capacity.
