Answer #1

A chronic disease prevalent in US is- CHRONIC HEART DISEASES /CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASES

An infectious disease prevalent in US is -CANDIDA AURIS INFECTION

I select both diseases because-

1. CHRONIC HEART DISEASE--In every 37 seconds, one person dies in the US due to cardiovascular disease.

2.CANDIDA AURIS--First identified in US and found particularly in the NEW YORK.

Things done on a national level to combat disease-

1. CHRONIC HEART DISEASE--

a. Creating awareness in people to do physical exercise to maintain a healthy weight.

b. Blood pressure , cholesterol should be lowered.

c.Blood sugar levels to be maintained normal.

2.CANDIDA AURIS--

a.Creating awareness among people as it spread by contamination and from people to people contact.

b.Creating awareness in people regarding cleanliness like washing hands.

c.Providing better health care facilities.

Diseases continue to be a public health issue-

1. CHRONIC HEART DISEASE--

When heart disease occurs, blood clot which forms on the plaque, which blocks the flow of blood. Smoking,High blood cholesterol, High blood pressure are high risk factors for cardiovascular diseases.

2.CANDIDA AURIS--

It is going to be an antibiotic resistant emerging pathogen. Lack of awareness in people about hygiene and cleanliness.

Similarities between infectiuos and chronic diseases-

There is an interaction between both diseases like seasonal influenza which is an infectious disease causes an increase in hospital admission and in some cases lead to increase in illness in patients with respiratory and circulatory disease.

Both the infectious and chronic diseases are transferred verically (from mother to child) while only infectious diseases are transferred horizontally.

Both the diseases are fatal for the society as well .Also leaves a long lasting impact on the society.
