Answer #1

Lesson plan:
cyberknife system:
Introduction:
It is a robotic radiosurgery system. cyberknife system is a treatment therapy for cancer and other tumors. It is radiation therapy system and nonivasive procudre that treat cancer in the various parts of the body like lung, brain, prostate, neck, spine, kidney, liver, pancreas. it has 5 routine sessions to complete the treatment.
Technology:
Technology behind this system involve image guided linear accelerator for radiation surgery that delivers high energy X ray photons to the tumor. it has robotic arm, real-time adaptive delivery of the radiation beam to target tumor location for the entire treatment. it has accurate radiation sub millimetric power that reduces side effects for the patients after the treatment. the robot moves around the patient and target tumor in many angles and concentrate radiation to the tumor and provide less radiation dose to healthy tissues.
Purpose:
- causes less side effects comparing to other radiation therapy
-Helps to minimize radiation to healthy tissues
- It target many tumors throughout the body.
-provide better quality of life during and after treatment.
-It is the only system for all forms of cancer tumor motion.
-The patient can move their position, cough, breathe normally, muscle relax while treatment is on the process.
side effects:
side effects are minimal and cause mild nausea, fatigue, skin irritation, hair loss, changes in the urinary system and salivary function.
Treatment types:
-Stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic body radiation therapy.
Treatment option:
Treatment option includes both inpatient and outpatient setup, it takes only 30 to 90 minutes to complete with one to 5 sessions. no anesthesia required. data show a 97% to100% survival rate for the low-risk patients and an 88% to 97% survival rate for intermediate-risk patients. when the patient already with radiation can be the candidate for this procedure.
conclusion:
Radiosurgery is a radiotherapy method target destroying the tumor cells with high dose ionizing radiation, it is the same as surgery cause no pain, blood loss, it is the same as x-ray with strong beams.
