Basically it was determined that nursing informatics competencies were directed for practicing nurses. The purposes of these were to guide the nurses and fully engage them in development, selection, and implementation and use the informatics solutions in the health care. This would help to reform nursing education and workforce for the practicing nurses. As part of the nursing curriculum, it was to provide a framework to initiate nursing informatics.

There were various studies and reviews conducted and developed as assessment instruments for nursing informatics competencies.

The competencies for beginner nurses and experienced nurses were chosen. This further concluded that this study provided preliminary evidence for the factor structure, internal consistency reliability, and responsiveness.

It results from this research that the nurse manager core informatics competencies should be composed from the available experienced nurses. There after a feasibility report was conducted and investigation defined the nursing informatics and its core elements through phenomenological approach. Their intention was to examine how faculty viewed informatics, both conceptually and practically.

In this process only two categories were used and the results showed three broad categories for literacy, computer, information and informatics. So it was recommended to have more emphasis on non computer literacy to help faculty and students improve their comprehension of informatics.

These reviews finally concluded that specific nursing informatics competencies required for nurses, which may apply internationally, and should be used to guide nursing educational programming. This was further developed with an experience report, how they translated the informatics competencies into the professional nursing practice. They described it as a blending of the concepts and the concepts of the data to wisdom continuum to help reshape nurses' thinking about describing and developing informatics competencies.

These studies recommended that faculty in educational institutions should focus on the development of competencies in informatics, and that competencies should be grouped throughout the nursing curriculum.

It was explained by the transition and the study presented the concern that nurses might be prepared to perform effectively in safety focused, integrated and patient centered environments, so that they should be able not only to register, retrieve data, search quality information, but mainly to use as an important resource for planning and make informed decisions, and transform the nursing practice.

This calls for a need of studies that links theoretical concepts and practical environments all over the world. Where the need should be defined and reviewed for competencies as change in informatics processes and solutions required.
