1. Self-boundaries are tremendously individual. As such they are used to protect ourselves in both our personal and professional lives.They are beneficial in the workplace because they help workers understand their individual roles and responsibilities.

Personal boundaries are developed to protect ourselves from being manipulated or used by others. Self-boundaries help us to be identified as a unique individual.

They help us to develop healthy relationships in both our personal and professional lives.Awareness of personal boundaries helps us to determine the actions and behaviors that we find unacceptable. Hence, self boundaries help to identify our strengths and weakness and how to avoid and identify the unacceptable behaviours and deal with critical situations while providing healthcare services . It enables to provide an effective and efficient care to the patient s

2. The ways to protect self boundaries while communicating with patients and co-workers are :-

Know your values. Understanding your values helps you figure out where you'd like to set boundaries

Communicate clearly. Lay out your limits very clearly

Bring up a boundary or violation right away

Create structure

Set boundaries at home

Focus on concrete explanations

Prepare for violations

3. Professional boundaries are the limits to the relationship of a nurse and a person in their care which allow for a safe, therapeutic connection between the nurse and that person .

Physical boundaries are the naturally occurring barrier between two areas . If patient is seated on a chair , to maintain the physical boundary the nurse must position herself on the back of the chair making the back of the chair as barrier.

4. As per the descriptions of the patient mentioned , the patient seems to be a carefree individual who spends more time in parties ,drugs etc and does not belong to a good family background . There will be a wide distance while nurse is communicating with the patient because of her untidy and unhygienic looks which indicates that she is an individual with malbehaviour .
