When a patient from a motor vehicle accident arrives via ambulance. Your general impression of the middle aged male patient is good. He knows who he is, where he is, he knows the date and what occured during the accident. He is alert and oriented. He denies loss of consciousness and denies any back or neck pain. His complaint is a four inch long laceration on the left proximal antebrachium and a four inch wide scrape near the right deltoid region. The patient is treated and released without admission. While discharging the patient, he tells you he's been informed that scrapes are at greater risk of infection than lacerations of comparable size. What would be a response to this patient? and explain your reasoning.
Nurse response to this patient as follows : Sir, we checked your wound thoroughly for the sign of infection. We did dressing appropriate to your wound. We treated you appropriately, for the prevention of infection also. If you need admission, definitely we would have admitted you and get treated. But you don't need unnecessary admission. Kindly follow the mediation regimen and if you need any help, kindly contact us .
