Answer #1

Q. No 1. Answer :

* Cefazolin 100 mg / kg / day means per 24 hours.

* Child weight is 18 kgs, so, 100 × 18 = 1800 mg with in 24 hours.

* If 100 mg per ml means 1800 mg per 18 ml.

* that is 1800 devided by 100 = 18 ml.

* so the nurse should draw 18 ml in to the syringe from vial for 24 hours.

Q. No. 2. Answer :

* the Cefazolin 2 gms and 20 ml sterile water this is the dilution range.

* so 2 GM = 2000 mg,

* so 2000 mg/ 20 ml = 100 mg per dl.

Q. No 3. Answer :

* if we can dilute in 20 ml sterile water.

* we will get 100 mg per 1 ml.

* So the dilution volume is 20 ml.

Q. No 4. Answer :

* infusion time is 24 hours.

* infusion rate is 0.187 ml per minute should be keep.

* If we will take drop factor is 15.

* formula is Total amount of drug in ml / time in minutes × drop factor

* so 18 ml /24×60(1440)

* 0.0124 × 15 = 0.187 ml per minute.
