The VDH is acomprehensive organization,offering a variety of services to Virginia citizens .The VDH offers services through a central office located in Richmond ,35 health districts and more than hundred local health departments.

The VDH which is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of the virginias VDH is led by State Health commissioner, Dr Remely .The State Health commissioner serves as the principal advisor to virginia Governor Timothy M kaine.Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of health has 13 member.the 13 member State Board of health is appointed by the Governor to provide leadership in planning and policy department for the Commonwealth and VDH organisation.

The services provided by the VDH are-Health Promotion

Disease prevention

Environment protection.

The services offered through the office of vital records in Richmond .citizens can get certified copies of birth ,death, marriage and divorce certificate.
