Evidence based practice (EBP) consider patient values, clinical expertise and relevant research.
EBP is important as it provide the most effective care that is available, with improving patient outcomes. Patients expect to received most effective care based on the best available evidence.
EBP can be improved by asking the clinical question in PICOT format, searching for the best evidence, evaluate the outcome of the practice change, integrate the evidence with a clinician's expertise and a patient's preferences and values, while critically appraising the evidence.
