Answer #1

1. Ordered dose of Magnesium sulfate - 4gm in 250ml NS IV over 30min q4h.

Available Magnesium sulfate - 5gm in 10ml

Means 10ml of available medicine has 5gm of Magnesium sulfate .

Using unitary method :-

5gm of magnesium sulfate is available in 10ml of solution

1gm of magnesium sulfate is available in 10/5ml

Then 4gm of magnesium sulfate will be available in 10/5× 4

= 8ml

8ml of magnesium sulfate should be injected into the 250ml of NS .

2. Ordered dose of magnesium sulfate is 4gm in 250NS 4hourly in 24hours

So, 4 IV preparations need to be made for the patient to receive their treatment for the next 24hours.
