Answer #1

Ans.5. a. Karim has an absolute advantage in both cleaning and cooking.

Karim has an absolute advantage in both cleaning and cooking because, given the time period, he does room cleaning and cooking efficiently( i.e. 2 rooms cleaned  and 4 meals cooked in an hour) than Hamid ( i.e. 1 room cleaned and 3 meals cooked in an hour)

Ans.6. d. Clean 6 rooms and cook 14 meals in total

When Hamid and Karim spend half of their time on each Chore ( i.e. two hours on room cleaning and two hours on cooking)

Room cleaning:

Hamid in 2 hours = 2hours x 1 room = 2 rooms cleaned

Karim in 2 hours = 2hours x 2rooms = 4 rooms cleaned

Both cleaned rooms in 4 hours = 6 rooms cleaned (i.e. 2 + 4)

Meals cooking:

Hamid in 2 hours = 2 hours x 3 meals = 6 meals cooked

Karim in 2 hours = 2 hours x 4 meals = 8 meals cooked

Both cooked in 4 hours = 14 meals cooked ( i.e. 6 +8 )

Hence, under a new arrangement, Hamid and Karim cleaned 6 rooms and cooked 14 meals in total.
