Risk factors for breast cancer are as follows:

1. Family history of breast cancer.

2. mutation: Changes in certain genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2. Those women who inherit these genetic changes are at higher risk.

3. older age: women of older age are at higher risk for breast cancer.

4. Reproductive history: early start of menstrual period and late menopause i.e. after age 55 raise the risk of breast cancer.

5. Breast density: Women with dense breasts i.e. more connective tissue than fatty tissue are are at higher risk for breast cancer.

6. Less physical activity increases risk for breast cancer.

7. Being overweight increase risk of getting breast cancer.

8. Taking hormonal therapy can increase the risk of breast cancer.

9. Drinking alcohol can increase the risk for breast cancer.

To reduce the risk, one should limit the consumption of alcohol, avoid smoking, Control weight, Be physically active and try to limit dose and duration and use of hormone therapy.
