Pregabalin :

Classification : gabapentinoid

Indications :

  • Management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
  • Management of posttherapetic neuralgia .
  • Adjunctive therapy for adult patients with partial onset seizures .
  • Management of fibromyalgia.
  • Management of neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury .

Normal dosage and administration :

  • Lyrics is given orally with or without food .
  • When discontinuing lyrics ,taper gradually over a minimum of 1 week.
  • 25 mg to 300 mg are recommended based on patient condition.

Side effects :

  • Angioedema .
  • Hypersensitivity .
  • Suicidal behaviour and ideation.
  • Peripheral edema.
  • Dizziness.
  • Weight gain.
  • Creatinine kinase elevation.
  • Decreased platelet count.
  • Drowsiness.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Constipation.
  • Blurred vision.
  • Breast swelling.

9) alendronate :

Classification : bisphonates

Indications :

  • Osteoporosis .
  • Bone fractures .

Dosage and administration :

Oral : take only in morning not at bed time or before arising .take tablet with full glass of water at least 30 minutes before first food or drink ,in upright position.

Dosage : from 5 mg , 10 mg , 35 mg 40,70,75 mg .

Side effects :

  • Chest pain.
  • Worsening heart burn.
  • Difficulty or pain when swallowing.
  • Pain or burning under the ribs or in the back
  • Severe heart burn ,burning pain in upper stomach
  • Unusual pain in thigh.

10) ketoprofen :

Classification : NSAIDS .

Indications :

  • Rheumatoid arthritis .
  • Osteo arthritis .
  • Acute pain.
  • Treatment of dysmenorrhea .

Dosage and administration:

Starting dose is 75 mg TID orally.

Recommended maximum dose is 300 mg .

Side effects :

  • Upset stomach .
  • Heart burn .
  • Stomach pain .
  • Unusual tiredness.
  • Constipation.
  • Diarrhea.
  • Bloating.
  • Dizziness.
  • Hedache .
  • Blurred vision.
  • Ringing in ears .
  • Skin itching.
  • Depression .
