Answer #1

6.A.Blood back up can be seen when the leur lock is loose as a result the pressure is lost or decreased leading to blood back up.So any loose connection has to be tightened.

B.Dropping the Leur lock cap on the floor leads to contamination of the cap ,it can not be used directly. There are two ways one to use a new leur lock cap or to sterilize this with the isopropyl alcohol or sterillium solution to disinfect it and use it.

C.An immediate action has to be done to stop the bleeding by applying the cap or closing the leurlock opening and then injecting or transfusing medication. In order to prevent this a mackintosh or a disposable sheet can be placed beneath the arm where procedure is done .Now the bed sheet has to be changed.

D.Inform the patient in a gentle manner that moving hands is causing difficulty to withdraw blood and will interrupt the collection making the patient feeling more discomfort able and even painful.

E.In these case a heparin flush can be done to clear it .If it shows no patency then check for back flow, if backflow occurs then position and secure it. Realignment can be done.
