Rye is in year 7 (11 years old). She has decided to become vegan. This is a recent idea and one that her parents don’t really understand. She has looked on social media and has found that there are a lot of things to avoid but isn’t really sure exactly what to eat instead. She isn’t too worried about this as losing a bit of weight doesn’t concern her too much. Her school is offering vaccinations this year but a friend said that they contain animal products so she’s refusing to take them.
Using the template below complete the table to explain four different types of disease Rye is at risk of developing. Ensure you give examples of the effects on Rye’s health if she develops each type of disease.

Being a vegan is definitely more of a lifestyle choice and a philosophy than a diet .

A vegan does not eat anything that is of animal origin .

Vegans will not use animal based products for clothing or any other purpose.

Deficiency :most common deficiencies are iron , calcium , vit . B12 and n- polyunsaturated fat .

Calcium.Deficiency may lead to osteoporosis .

Degeneration :

Vegans have high prevalence of bit - B 12 deficiency .

People may have ataxia , psychosis , paresthesia , disorientation ,dementia , mood and motor disturbances and difficulty in concentration

Infectious diseases :

Vegans have low immunity ,so they are more prone to get infectious diseases like common cold and other bacterial infection, viral ,fungal and parasitic infections etc.

Non infectious diseases :

Vegans are more likely to get CVD and macrocytic anemia due to lack of iron in the diet .
