Answer #1

HA-MRSA genome contains a plasmid and transposon which encode resistance to many antibiotics. CA -MRSA is more virulent because genes encode on mobile genetic elements;multiple MGEs contribute to virulence by conferring antibiotic resistance. The core genome is similar among all strains. Both CA-MRSA and HA-MRSA are resistant to traditional anti-staphylococcal beta-lactem antibiotics such as Cephalaxein. CA -MRSA has a greater spectrum of antimicrobial susceptibility, including to sulpha drugs, tetracyclines and clindamycin, but the drug of choice for treating CA-MRSA is Vancomycin. Vancomycin must be administered in a dilute solution slowly, over atleast 60 minutes. It must be given intravenously for systemic therapy, since it does not cross through the intestinal lining. It is a large hydrophylic molecule that partitions poorly across the GI mucosa.

Do you support the use of unions in workplaces? While there are many benefits to having them, it also creates problems, as was discussed in class where students may not be able to graduate.
