COLLECTIVE BARGAINING

Collective bargaining is a process of negotiations between employees and employers to ensure good working conditions and job security.The needs and demands of employees are presented by representatives of the employees organisation to the employer or to the government.The negotiations,reached by both employer and employees mainly includes wage scales,duty hours,leaves,occupational safety and other job situations.

TYPES OF BARGAINING

Collective bargaining ca be classified into different types; 1.Conjunctive or distributive

2.Cooperative CB(Both the stakeholders reach a mutually acceptable solution)

3.Productive(Giving incentives for the workers to improve the productivity)

4.Composite(Along with the wage hike,other needs also expressed such as recruitment policies,environmental issues,infrastructure management)

I think conjunctive or distributive bargaining is more beneficial for nursing community if all the demands of the employees are accepted.In this type of bargaining method,both the stakeholders try to maximize their respective benefits.Here,the single stakeholder win the scenario.The demands of salary hike,other allowances and assurance of other job security measures are included.Once, all these demands of nurses are accepted by either government or other employer,it will be more beneficial for the nurses,at the same time,a huge setback for the employer.Here the winner is nursing community.From this onwards,the nurses enjoys salary hike,other allowances and job security which will increase the morale of the community members.
