  • To investigate or to treat a pathological condition
  • To help improve bodily functions or appearance
  • To repair unwanted ruptured areas.

2. Elective surgery- it is a planned or scheduled in advance because it does not have any medical emergency.

Urgent and emergency surgery- urgent surgery is one that can do when the patient is medically stable, while emergency surgery must be performed without delay to save the life of client.

3. Concept of perioperative nursing

  • Perioperative nursing speciality works with the client who are having operation and those undergone surgery. They help plan, implement and evaluate the treatment of the patient.

4. Factors affecting tolerance to surgery are

  • Age- children and old age peoples are less tolerance
  • gender- mostly female gets more anxious than males
  • Psychological support
  • education- educated people can tolerate more than uneducated
