  • The following information the nurse should seek in order to receive culturally competent care for this patient are
    • Knowing about their beliefs and practices
    • Their view about modern medicine and its benefits
    • Encouraging the family members to actively involve in the care
  • It can be incorporated in the treatment after discussion with the primary doctor because espirita deals with identification of the root cause and treating it from the origin ,something like healing the patient with spirit,non chemical based medications.It can be assessed what type of treatment is offered and how it can interact the modern life and its duration to treat it.The prayers in it can be conducted either in the morning or evening.Certainly restricting causing any harm to the patient physically by beating to remove the evil spirit.
  • The following safety measures has to be taken regardless of culture are
    • Restraining only after consent and physician order,strictly when patient is very aggressive and cause injury to self or others
    • Removing any sharps, medications, articles from patient side, when people are in traumatic condition they tend to get negative energy like killing self
    • To meet the patients nutritional needs
    • Administration of medication as per the order
